Lil Wayne, the biggest selling rapper of last year will spend most of next year in jail after pleading guilty to gun possession charges.
Lil Wayne appeared in a Manhattan Court yesterday on the charges dating back to July 2007. Police had pulled over his tour bus and caught the rapper in possession of a weapon.
In a statement released today, Cash Money owners Ronald ?ÇÿSlim?ÇÖ Williams and Bryan ?ÇÿBaby?ÇÖ Williams had this to say. ?Ç£The Cash Money family will continue to support our artist and friend Lil Wayne in his current court case. We have worked with Wayne since he was a teenager, and have seen him grow into one of the world?ÇÖs most successful hip-hop artists, with a work ethic that is second to none. Wayne has our love and commitment during this difficult time. We always have and always will stand behind him?Ç¥.
Wayne will be sentenced in February, 2010. It is expected he will get eight to 10 months with good behavior.
While he will be out of sight from the fans, he will still have plenty of new music next year. Cash Money has accumulated new recordings from the rapper kicking off with the ?ÇÿYoung Money All-Stars?ÇÖ album featuring Weezy. The single ?ÇÿEvery Girl?ÇÖ has already been released.
