Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards might very well be the next Michael Buble. Richards is reported to be working on an album of crooner covers.
According to website captainsdead.com, Richards has been recording songs by Perry Como, Judy Garland, Tammy Wynette and Hoagy Carmichael.
Bootlegs of the sessions have surfaced on the internet featuring songs such as ?ÇÿSomewhere Over The Rainbow?ÇÖ, ?ÇÿI Wonder Who?ÇÖs Kissing Her Now?ÇÖ, ?ÇÿGirl From The North Country?ÇÖ and ?ÇÿCathy?ÇÖs Clown?ÇÖ.
Richards may have recorded the songs for his own personal use. He has not made an official comment to say it that the songs will be used for a solo album but during a recent online chat when asked about the idea he said "I've never planned it before but maybe now I should; I'll think about it."
An album of old covers would not be a stretch for Keith. His influences all come from pre-Stones anyway.
Keith also has time to work on the release. 2009 is going to be an off-year for The Stones but they should reactive for another tour in 2010.
