27-year old Kevin Cogill would have to be shitting himself today. Cogill has been arrested by the FBI for illegally uploading 9 Guns N Roses song, meant for the `Chinese Democracy` album.
Cogill played the songs on his website antiquiet.com and within days they had flooded the P2P sites and were traded all over the world millions of times.
When the FBI questioned Cogill, he freely admitted to the crime.
He withdrew the songs from his own website, but by that stage it was too late.
Cogill was arrested on suspicion of violating copyright laws. If convicted, he faces the possibility of three years in jail.
However, by making of the files public has cornered Axl Rose into an official release for the album.
With 9 songs of the album easily doing the round, it is highly likely now that the 10-year overdue `Chinese Democracy` will finally be granted a release.
By holding back now, Rose will lose all control over any future revenues from the album.
Don`t be surprised if this incident leads to an official release of `Chinese Democracy` before the end of this year.
