We’ve written up about the Chris Cornell / Timbaland collaboration before at Undercover.
Ryan Seacreast played the sing ‘Long Gone’ on his radio show in Los Angeles this week. There is only one word for the song “horrible”. Actually, make that two words “truly horrible”.
This year, Chris Cornell has been recording his new album with Timbaland producing. The album will be called ‘Scream’.
Cornell released his previous album ‘Carry On’ last year and it was a mighty fine piece of work.
‘Scream’ could very well be as disastrous as Elton John’s hideous attempt at disco with ‘Victim of Love’ in 1979.
If ‘Long Gone’ is indicative of the album, then Cornell has made a huge mistake. The first song shows a complete disconnect with those out there who considers themselves to be fans.
This is going to scare the crap out of Soundgarden and Audioslave fans and totally alienates Cornell from fans of his two previous solo albums.
‘Scream’ is shaping up to be his musical midlife crisis.
Hopefully, once it is released he will get it out of his system. That would be a great time to get on the phone to Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd and start finally discussing what the fans really want from Cornell … a Soundgarden reunion.
Have a listen to the song here
