Snoop Dogg is one of the artists working on transforming the first Johnny Cash album into at 21st century rap record.
Snoop is remixing Cash’s ‘I Walk The Line’ from The Sun Sessions.
The album will be called Johnny Cash Remixed and is being driven by Cash’s son, John Carter Cash. “My father made his stead by defying the expected and accepted way of things” John Carter Cash said in a statement. “He set the standard at the same time. He would have loved this remix record. While it stays true to the original recordings, this CD touches on undiscovered ground. This is what my father was about: staying true to tradition while creating groundbreaking new music.”
The original pieces from The Sun Sessions are being used as the template for the new recordings.
Rick Rubin, who produced Cash’s last 5 albums, is overseeing production.
The album will be released on October 14.
