Metallica has launched the website missionmetallica.com to nurture fans through to the release of their next album.
Mission Metallica will feature riff and segments from the yet-to-be titled album, video of the writing and recording of the album, live tracks and messages from the band.
The site will launch soon but currently features a video introduction to the album and site.
Meanwhile, the band will play a benefit gig for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music this Wednesday night at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles.
System of a Down's Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan will also perform with their new act Scars on Broadway.
The Silverlake Conservatory of Music was founded by Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers as a non-profit organization.
Money raised will help low-income students.
Tickets are $200.
